Seeing Historia, in Attack on Titan Episode 69, nestling in a wooden rocking chair sporting a recognizable shock on her belly, was absolutely not what the fans would have expected.
Such a shocking revelation would surely overwhelm the fans with questions: Who got Historia pregnant? Who is the father of Historia’s baby? Is he Eren?
In fact, there are two different theories within the community that I can acquaint you with and they are definitely worth the exploration!
SPOILERS AHEAD! This blog post may contain spoilers from Shingeki no Kyojin manga series!
Who is the father of Historia’s baby: A brief answer!
As recognized, only Historia’s childhood friend, the farmer, is confirmed to be the father of Historia’s baby. However, many Attack on Titan fans believe it to be a decoy because of the obscurity of the events leading up to Historia’s pregnancy.
Eren seems to be the other possible candidate to be the father of Historia’s baby, because there are many considerable arguments that he may be the father of Historia’s child.
Who is the father of Historia’s baby: Who got Historia pregnant?
Even if the Shingeki no Kyojin manga series is already over, the mystery behind Historia’s pregnancy and who is the father of Historia’s baby continue to be an enigma.
Attack on Titan Final Season Part 1 Episode 10 confirmed that Historia’s childhood friend, the farmer, is the one who got her pregnant. And this insufficient amount of information is all we have about the identity of the father of Historia’s baby, officially – even till Chapter 137.
However, the astonishment of a random character being the father of Historia’s baby, has not sit well with many Shingeki no Kyojin fans. The manga is already over, and we don’t even know the true identity of the father of Historia’s child. Was this the conclusion that we had waited for? Definitely not.
So, many Shingeki no Kyojin manga readers continue to explore the dialogues, and place themselves within the indefinable mind of the mangaka, Hajime Isayama, to find a satisfying answer.
As a result, many interesting elements have popped up, which we will be addressing in this blog post in order to reveal the true identity of the father of Historia’s baby!
Who is the Father of Historia’s Baby: Two Parties, Many Reasons!
The discussion about Historia’s pregnancy has created two factions within the Shingeki no Kyojin Fandom: ones who continue to believe that the farmer is the father of Historia’s baby, and the others that believe that Eren Yeager is the father.
Both the parties have many convincing arguments to present. And, both these answers don’t sit well with me, for several reasons which I will state later on.
One of the main things I keep wondering about is: how relevant is Historia’s pregnancy? Is it that important to know the identity of the father of Historia’s baby?
In fact, Hajime Isayama has created a sitting where it’s practically impossible to choose between yes and no. Historia’s presence in the final arc is pretty ambiguous. She seems to have taken a backseat in the final arc, despite the huge popularity she garnered amongst fans.
She only appears in a few flashbacks, and the only recent panel of her is when she is finally giving birth. The lack of her presence in the final arc could be because of her relevance to the progression of the plot.
It is incontestable that the symbolic posture of Eren holding a baby at the end of the Shingeki no Kyojin manga would be iconic. However, the possibility of Eren being the father of Historia’s baby has its own problems.
One the other hand, the simple acceptance of the farmer as the father of Historia’s baby also feels half-finished because of the way the mangaka continues to tease the fans. It can either be considered as trolling or as a build-up to another reveal.
So, this makes us wonder: Is the father even relevant? In Shingeki no Kyojin Chapter 130, Hajime Isayama broke the ice on the conversation that leads up to Historia’s pregnancy.
Who is the Father of Historia’s Baby: Who is the man with Historia?
The likelihood of the farmer being the father of Historia’s baby is high. This is because, first of all, it’s already been confirmed that he is the one who got Historia pregnant, unless it is a decoy.
If the farmer is the father, then that surely means that the identity of the father was never relevant after all. This would make us wonder about the significance of the decision of protecting Historia and allowing her to live peacefully.
In fact, the inheritance of the Beast Titan would entail her lifespan being cut down to 13 years. Her decision to go against her prior stand is almost symbolic of her desire to live.
And even though the farmer is a “nameless” character, it has been established that Historia has a backstory with him.
Is Eren the father of Historia’s baby?
Actually, the reasons behind this possibility are Isayama’s constant tease regarding Historia’s pregnancy, and the lie regarding the timing of the pregnancy.
Some Attack on Titan fans theorize that Eren is the true father of Historia’s baby, and due to political reasons, it would be less “messy” to have the farmer act as the father of Historia’s child. It is evident that there is no romantic liaison between Historia and the farmer, which is why she hasn’t married him.
Now, if you ask why would the farmer even cooperate? The answer to that lies in the fact that the farmer wasn’t a childhood friend, but a childhood bully.
The first inclinations towards Eren come from the chemistry between Historia and Eren that people have caught onto. In fact, they share incredible common points: they’ve both had moments where they felt unworthy of life, burdened by their fate, and assumed themselves to be “the enemy of humanity”.
To conclude, there is something off in both these possibilities. If the farmer is the father of Historia’s child, then why tease the pregnancy like this? But if Eren is the father of Historia’s baby, it begs the question, why would someone who wishes to detach himself from everyone leave a baby behind?
The question “Who got Historia pregnant?” is a Pandora’s box within Attack on Titan community, ultimately, leading to ship wars. But is it relevant or not? It’s up to you to decide dear readers! 😉
