“Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” anime began to finally stand itself out and catch readers’ curiosity since the appearance of Kawaki, and the beginning of Kara Arc that brought us a new villain: Jigen. But, who is Jigen, and what are his objectives and plans?
As the events advance, we have discovered new information and details about the origin of Jigen’s powers and what he can do. Let’s reveal together who is Jigen, and let’s unmask his true identity!
Who Is Jigen: Jigen’s true identity
Jigen was an ordinary and weak monk before being infiltrated by Ōtsutsuki Isshiki who made him his vessel by placing a Karma Seal on him.
Unfortunately for Jigen “the monk”, that he came across the wrong person “Ōtsutsuki Isshiki” who took over his body and used him as a vessel after his partner “Ōtsutsuki Kaguya” betrayed him and left him about to die.
Ōtsutsuki Isshiki attacked Jigen “the monk”, then he reduced his size and penetrated Jigen’s ear to control his body.
Since then, Isshiki began to parasitize Jigen’s body, then he planted his Karma in him, which made Jigen fall from a monk to a miserable villain who couldn’t even master his own intentions.
Next, Jigen founded the Kara organization and became its leader, and actually, he is the main villain in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
Who is Jigen: a heartless tutor
Jigen’s body is unable to stand Isshiki’s overwhelming powers. Being a member of the Ōtsutsuki Clan, Isshiki’s powers are incredible and can’t be put in an ordinary vessel.
For this reason, Ōtsutsuki Isshiki can’t be resurrected in Jigen’s body and, he was looking for a suitable vessel, that’s why he set his eyes on Kawaki.
Jigen is charged with preparing Kawaki to be a suitable vessel for Isshiki. First, he saved Kawai from his rude dad, then he put him through painful experiments and horrible training in order to plant the Karma seal on him.
Who is Jigen: an overwhelming power
Since he is Kara’s head, many Scientific Ninja Tools are put on Jigen’s body, giving him a tremendous power and countless abilities.
Moreover, he masters all fighting styles, both with weapons and hand-to-hand combat, and does not only rely on his chakra reserves.
Thanks to the Karma seal and the presence of Ōtsutsuki Isshiki in his body, Jigen can also make black rods which allow him to extract chakra from its targets.
Even without using his full power, Jigen was able to stand himself against Naruto and Sasuke (Boruto: Naruto next Generations episode 204), but when using the full power of his Karma seal, He was able to beat both of them.
Fortunately, Jigen overpowered form can’t last long, and he had to convalesce for at least two days to go back to normal.
This being said, Jigen is definitely one of the strongest characters in Boruto: Naruto next Generations, but he stronger than Naruto and Sasuke.
Actually, after seeing the 7th Hokage power-up, Kawaki affirmed that Naruto is definitely stronger than Jigen, and since Sasuke is as strong as Naruto, then Jigen is weaker than both of them.
Who is Jigen: Is Jigen dead or alive?
Jigen is deceased after confronting Kashin Koji. After the last fight against Naruto and Sasuke, Jigen was gravely weakened. Because of this, Jigen couldn’t absorb Kashin Koji’s Flame Attack, and was burned to death.
But unfortunately, as Jigen had the Karma seal, Ōtsutsuki Isshiki resurrected into his body even though the former being biologically dead.
Who is Jigen: Food for the God Tree
Every member of the Ōtsutsuki clan has one and unique goal: To become stronger. To realize their goal, they travel around the cosmos (from planet to planet) and plant Divine Trees that absorb the energy of the creatures in order to germinate the Chakra Fruits that allow them to increase their powers and strength.
Ōtsutsuki Isshiki came to Earth with his partner Ōtsutsuki Kaguya for this reason, but they didn’t achieve their goal since Kaguya betrayed Isshiki.
Resolved to reach his goal this time, Ōtsutsuki Isshiki needs to satisfy a fundamental requirement so that the Divine Tree can grow: an Ōtsutsuki member is needed to be eaten by the Jyûbi.
In the beginning, Ōtsutsuki Kaguya was meant to be eaten by the ten-tails beast, but as a result of her treason, Ōtsutsuki Isshiki was obliged to change plans.
Isshiki planned to sacrifice Jigen, along with himself, to be eaten by the Jyûbi, and since Kawaki had the Karma seal, he can resurrect once again in his body.
Nevertheless, since he had not yet healed, the derived Chakra Fruit wouldn’t be of higher quality. After they discovered that Boruto is Ōtsutsuki Momoshiki’s vessel, Isshiki dropped out his plan of feeding Jigen to the Jyûbi and decided to feed Boruto to the Ten-Tails beast instead.
