SPOILERS AHEAD! This blog post contains spoilers from Solo Leveling Manhwa!

Solo Leveling Manhwa: Is Chapter 179 the Final Chapter?

Solo Leveling Chapter 179 is the final chapter of the Solo Leveling Manhwa, but it is not the end of the story. The webtoon was adapted from the light novel, which includes the Epilogue with some side stories.

The Solo Leveling Manhwa’s final chapter finishes at Chapter 243 of the Solo Leveling Light Novel, touching on bits from the Epilogue.

Nobody really thought the story would finish so quickly. Even though the main saga is astonishingly adapted, the ending seems kind of rushed. It is frequent for Korean novels to have their main endings intermixed with side stories or bonus chapters.

The side stories of the Epilogue, which is the final arc of Solo Leveling Manhwa, is where we get a truly satisfying close to this legendary story. Unfortunately, the Epilogue comprises Chapters 244 to 270 and will not be adapted into the manhwa.

The end of Solo Leveling Manhwa Explained

Is Solo Leveling Manhwa Over (Is Chapter 179 the Final)?

Chapter 177, released on December 15th, 2021, is based on Chapters 242 & 243 of the Solo Leveling light novel. It gives us a conclusion to the war between the Monarchs and the Rulers.

During the Final Arc, Sung Jin-Woo gains all the powers of Ashborn, and becomes the new Shadow Monarch. In the final fight with Antares, Sung Jin-Woo defeats him in the end, but only with the help of the Rulers that impale Antares with their spears.

Antares was about to win the fight until the Rulers appearance. Antares was the Monarch of Destruction and frankly, his powers surpassed that of Sung Jin-Woo.

What saved Sung Jin-Woo is that he was able to open up the Gate by contacting the Rulers through Andres and Zhigang, the human vessels of the two Rulers.

In chapter 178, Sung Jin-Woo used the Cup of Reincarnation to rewind time by 10 years. He then stepped into the Dimensional Rift with his Shadows – including Igris, Beru, Bellion, and anyone that wasn’t human before he traveled back in time – and slammed all 7 Monarchs with their respective subordinates.

Sung Jin-Woo gathered an army of more than 10 million to prepare to take the title of Shadow Monarch. But unfortunately, the main fight between Sung Jin-Woo and Antares is off-screened.

This is probably the worst thing about the manhwa ending, that we never get to see how Sung Jin-Woo overcame Antares.

Sung Jin-Woo stayed inside the Rift for 27 years (which is also how many chapters we have left from the Epilogue!). This long period amounts to just 2 years in the real world. How Sung Jin-Woo entered and existed the Rift are also never revealed.

In chapter 179 of the Solo Leveling Manhwa, we see Sung Jin-Woo returned as a teenager. A messenger of the Rulers told him that the Rulers want to shift him from Earth because he is too strong for the planet.

Sung Jin-Woo kept all his powers as the Shadow Monarch. Hz obviously doesn’t want to leave the Earth since it is where home is, and home is where the people he loves are.

Will Solo Leveling Manhwa get an Anime Adaptation?

It’s possible that Solo Leveling Manhwa will get adapted into an anime series. Fans have been petitioning for the anime since the beginning, and with the manhwa finishing with such an open ending, it’s likely that the anime will include the Epilogue and all the side stories.

D&C Webtoon, the Solo Leveling Manhwa publisher, has already put out a teaser saying that the work will be getting an OST, where one of the tracks will be sung by the popular K-pop band, The Boyz.
