The official website for the anime adaptations of the Otome Game Hakuouki announced that the Otome Game “Hakuōki” will receive a new OVA project.
The website also revealed a teaser visual, and the chara-design of a new character named “Sakai Hyōgo”.
Otome Game Hakuouki Synopsis
The story of the Otome Game Hakuouki focuses on a historical Shinsengumi Samurai group in Kyoto during the 19th century. A girl named Chizuru Yukimura from Edo arrived in Kyoto to look for her missing father.
Due to a fateful link with her searched dad, Chizuru found herself involved in the conflict between the scary Rasetsu and the Shinsengumi Samurai group (led by Toshizou Hijikata).
Otome Game Hakuouki (Game Release)
Idea Factory released the first Hakuouki Otome Game in 2008. Hakuōki Shinkai: Kaze no Shō was launched (PlayStation Vita) in September 2015. The Idea Factory International also released the Otome game Hakuouki in North America and Europe in May 2017.
Later in August 2017, Idea Factory released the game for PC via Steam.
The sequel game, Hakuōki Shinkai: Hana no Shō, debuted in Japan on the PlayStation Vita in June 2016. In March 2018, Idea Factory International released the game in North America and Europe for PlayStation Vita and Steam.
In September 2018, Idea Factory released the 2 games together for the Nintendo Switch under the title Hakuōki Shinkai: Fūkaden.
Hakuōki Shinkai: Tsukikage no Shō and Hakuōki Shinkai: Ginsei no Shō are new games for the Nintendo Switch. The first game launched in Japan on September 2019, and the second game in July 2020.
The franchise inspired many Hakuouki anime adaptation (see more details in the next section) in 2010.
The franchise’s Hakuouki SSL ~sweet school life~ high school spinoff game has also inspired a live-action TV series, a musical, and a live-action film.
Information about Otome Game Hakuouki (anime adaptations)
Studio Deen produced a 12-episode anime adaptation (aired in Spring 2010), followed by a 10-episode “Hakuouki Hekketsuroku” sequel anime series in Fall 2010.
Then, we got a 6-episode side story OVA “Hakuouki Sekkaroku” that aired between August 2011 and June 2012. Next,Studio Deen adapted the prequel game into a 12-episode anime “Hakuouki Reimeiroku” in Summer 2012.
The latest anime project for the Otome game Hakuouki was a two-part movie project:
- Hakuouki Movie 1: Kyoto Ranbu (Hakuoki ~Demon of the Fleeting Blossom~ Wild Dance of Kyoto) aired in 2013;
- Hakuouki Movie 2: Shikon Soukyuu (Hakuoki ~Demon of the Fleeting Blossom~ Warrior Spirit of the Blue Sky) aired in 2014.
The 2 movies were released on Blue-Ray and DVD by Sentai Filmworks.
Now, NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan announced, via a new website, that Otome Game Hakuouki will receive a new OVA project.
