Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 Episode 4 Recap

  • In Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 Episode 5, we sawZeke gaining control of the Founding Titan, giving him control of Eldians;
  • Zeke finally has the power to carry out his “euthanization plan”, but didn’t want to do it without Eren by his side;
  • He assumed that Eren isn’t on his side because Grisha brainwashed him, and hence, he used the power of the Founding Titan to take him to see Grisha’s memories;
  • They started with Eren’s childhood memories, where Grisha is a famous doctor;
  • Grisha treated patients with elite status, hoping to find out the holder of the Founding Titan;
  • Zeke used this as a proof to show Eren how little Grisha cared about his family because if he was discovered, Eren and his mother would be in danger too;
  • This observation turned out wrong since it quickly became obvious that Grisha learned from his past mistakes and loved his new family;
  • Upon his arrival on the Paradis Island, he looked for the Royal Family and found them within a few years;
  • He decided to confront them but, in the end, he didn’t go through with it and returned to his family;
  • A new power of the Attack Titan is revealed: the current titan holder can see the memories of the future holders;

Can Eren Yeager Time Travel & How Did He Manipulate His Father?

  • Grisha can see the future from Eren’s perspective;
  • When Eren was in the basement, he directly looks at Zeke, and Grisha also starts to see him;
  • Seeing everything so far, Zeke realized that his assumptions are wrong since Eren wasn’t brought up to become an Eldian restorationist;
  • Zeke then began to wonder why his half-brother became a nationalist;
  • Eren told Zeke that he was born this way, and no one had to tell him anything because he treasured his freedom above everything else;
  • Rather than letting someone steal his freedom, Eren would steal theirs first;
  • Zeke continues to take Eren through all of Grisha’s memories, hoping that at least one may change his mind;
  • We then got to a scene from the very first episode, where Grisha asked Eren why he wanted to join the Survey Corps;
  • Eren replied that he wanted to explore the world outside the wall, and if he didn’t carry on, all the deaths would be for nothing;

  • This made Grisha remember all the deaths of his fellow restorationists, and gave him the courage to confront the Reiss family and steal the Founder Titan from them;
  • Then, we saw Grisha begging Frieda to save the Eldians from the Titans that are going to attack them soon;
  • Frieda refused and explained how no amount of Eldian deaths will equate to their ancestors’ crimes;
  • Having no other choice, Grisha started to turn into his Attack Titan, but stopped since he can’t kill children;
  • Zeke was surprised because this is where his father should have killed the Royal Family members since the past can’t be changed;
  • At this moment, the current Eren directly spoke to his father by showing him his future memories;
  • He presses him to take the Founding Titan, and Grisha tearfully slaughtered the Royal Family;
  • This is also when Zeke finally found out about the Attack Titan’s ability to see the future;
  • Grisha was distressed after stealing the Founding Titan and cried out to Eren, asking if this is what he wanted;
  • Grisha then saw Zeke and finally realized he is his elder son;
  • Grisha apologized to his elder son for being a bad father and told him that everything is about to go according to Eren’s plan;
  • Attack on Titan Season 5 Episode 5 ends as the two brothers are back in the paths dimension, and Zeke looks at Eren with a horror-struck expression.
